It is noon, a little late, and warm to be starting a day of riding, but, we could not wait….wait a minute, who cares what the time is…do we have a schedule? NO!
We had to make a trip back to the Kari Tree before we could continue on our journey. Kev gave Constable Jason a ring and he kindly met up with us at the crash site. It was really fantastic to quickly catch up with him before heading on! Thanks Jason! Kev said his goodbyes to the tree and we were once again on our way!
Almost a 500 km day on our first day back on the road, and we are right back into the swing of things. Kev's bike is humming along, I'm humming in my helmet, the raw countryside is passing us by, and, it feels good!
The days are still quite long and Kev and I find ourselves riding right into dusk. On the first day back we are breaking our personal riding rules…"No riding after 4pm" We turn off Highway 1 the 60 kms to Bremer Bay and it is 6pm. I break hard and radio Kev, "A Roo watch out!" A huge kangaroo is perched by the roadside looking straight at us, I slow right down sound my horn and wait for him to bound away. Not 5 more k's down the road was another roo, time to get a camping spot!
We pull into the Bremer Bay township and it has pretty much closed down for the night. Kev and I idle around until we find a camping spot and set up camp. We jump right into action. We definitely have not lost our groove and our campsite is up "lickity split". Our new Exped inflatable mattresses, an upgrade from our previous Thermarests look pretty comfy, and it is not long until we are sound asleep.
